# Cool Computers in Cursor

> Add the Cool Computers MCP server to Cursor, and the cool-computers skill beside it.

## Add the MCP server

Add the server to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project, or to `.cursor/mcp.json` in one project:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cool": {
      "url": "https://api.cool.computer/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Cursor signs in to Cool Computers with OAuth the first time it connects. Check the server under MCP in Cursor's settings.

To use an API key instead of signing in, keep the key in `COOL_API_KEY` and send it as a bearer token:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cool": {
      "url": "https://api.cool.computer/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:COOL_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Create a key in Settings at [www.cool.computer/account](https://www.cool.computer/account), or over HTTP as the [credential reference](/authentication.md) shows. The key is shown once.

## Add the skill

The `cool-computers` skill teaches the agent when to publish a page, how to answer comments and drawings, and when a site needs a VM. Install it from the [plugin repository](https://github.com/The-Money-Company-Limited/cool-computers):

```sh
npx skills add The-Money-Company-Limited/cool-computers
```

## Check it works

Ask the agent:

```text
List my Cool Computers sites and computers. Don't change anything.
```

It calls `cool_list_computers` and answers with your list.
