# About Cool Computers

> What Cool Computers is, who it is for, and what stays with each computer.

Cool Computers is for work that needs a computer you can reach and return to. Each one is a Linux computer with its own name, `name.cool.computer` public address, `name@mail.cool.computer` inbox, and persistent writable disk. Install tools, write code, configure a service, leave, and reconnect later. Its filesystem, identity, and configured services remain, and requests to its public address reach the service automatically.

## For people and agents

You can work from a browser, a terminal, the HTTP API, or the `cool` CLI. Agents can create or reuse a named computer and manage its network, durable service, inbox, and integrations through bounded MCP tools. MCP service and startup writes execute an explicitly approved durable command; use HTTP or `cool` for one-shot command execution and file transfer.

## One computer, one identity

The tools you install, files you create, services you configure, inbox you use, and address you return to stay attached to the same computer. Public computers can appear in the gallery when their owners share them. Private computers stay out of it.
